Sensex Surges 300 Points On Firm Global Cues

The BSE benchmark Sensex jumped by over 300 points in late morning trade today on sustained buying in realty, capital goods, metal, banking and power stocks amid a firming trend in global markets.

The 30-share Sensex resumed higher at 15,640.56 and shot up further to 15,827.65 points at 1115 hrs, a net gain of 309.73 points from its previous close.

The NSE’s 50-share Nifty index was also firmed up by 89.70 points, or 1.93 per cent, at 4,726.45 at 1115 hrs.

The market breadth was strong. All the 13 sectoral indices on BSE were in the green. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) edged higher in early trade.
