The rupee today fell marginally by 5 paise to 54.47 against the Us dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange, due to increased demand for the American currency from importers.
Forex dealers said firm demand from importers for the dollar, mainly put pressure on the domestic unit.
