How the French conduct their elections

After more than a decade reporting in Paris, I've often had the chance to go into the president's Elysee Palace, government ministries and Parliament.

But Sunday, for the first time, I got to see inside the real heart of the French Republic -- in a kindergarten classroom two blocks from my apartment.
