Cabinet Approves Bill For Registration Of Inter-Religion Marriages

In a measure that will give relief to couples having inter-religion wedlock, the Government today approved a proposal to enable registration of religion-neutral marriages to meet the demands of minorities.

The proposal, approved by the Union Cabinet, has been brought in the form of amendment to the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and a bill in this regard will be introduced in the second half of Budget Session starting on April 24.
