The Director General of Police Uttarakhand has ordered a CID inquiry into an incident on Feb 4, in which policemen brought Santosh Rawat, a small-time thief to the grounds near a boys' hostel here, undressed him and began beating him with lathis.
Not only this, soon after a policeman in mufti brought the youth's female associate and began slapping her in his presence.
The two were then taking inside the boys' hostel and then whisked off to the local Clement Town police station in a jeep. The girl was later let off.
