The Azim Premji Foundation (APF), run by Wipro owner Azim Premji, the third richest Indian, plans to start 1,300 schools across the country, with an average of two per district.
Studying in the schools will be free, education will be imparted in the local language and the schools will be affiliated to the state board, says a media report.
The APF schools, from preschool to class 12, will be on the lines of government ones. The difference will be in quality.
