Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that the Centre take immediate steps for formation of a separate Telangana without further consultations with political parties on the issue.
Rao, who has been camping in New Delhi for the past few days, met Dr. Singh along with a huge delegation consisting members from his party and the Hyderabad-based Telangana Joint Action Committee which is spearheading the movement for a separate state.
During the meeting, sources said, Rao briefed Dr. Singh about the situation in Telangana region where a general strike has crippled life for the past 22 days.
