Six-year-old Abhaya Gupta was enjoying the Dussehra event at the historic Ramlila Maidan on Thursday, hundreds of meters away in the presence of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, when the unthinkable happened.
As the huge Ravana effigy burnt into flames to the sound of crackers and applause from the thousands of people pressent, the bamboo pole holding the effigy suddenly fell on Abhaya's head.
