Hyderabad, Oct 14: Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and middle-order batsman Suresh Raina struck half-centuries to help India reach a challenging 300-7 in 50 overs against England in the opening one-dayer of a five-game series.
Dhoni hit 87 not out and Raina 61, adding 72 runs for the fifth wicket, as the home side made up for a sluggish start after electing to bat at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.
The pair took charge after the England bowlers had managed to limit the batsmen in the early part of the innings when India was on 87-3 after 20 overs.
