A 19-year-old girl Rajeshwari Anjara committed suicide on Thursday after being spurned by her lover Jitendra, police said.
Jitendra has been arrested and the court has sent him to judicial custody.
Rajeshwari, her cousin sister said, met Jitendra at a wedding function and the two became friends. Five days ago, according to Rajeshwari, she was taken to a deserted flat by Jitendra and raped.
The girl's parents requested Jitendra to marry her but he flatly refused citing excuses. A day before the suicide, Rajeshwari had filed a charge of rape against him, and the police had arrested him, said M J Pathan, police inspector, Chowk Bazar police station.
