Jaguares claimed first place in Mexico’s Apertura tournament with, a 5-3 victory over America that forced America coach Carlos Reinoso to resign after the match.
Jaguares have 17 points, level with Cruz Azul and Guadalajara’s Chivas.
America, one of Mexico’s biggest clubs, has only nine points and is near the bottom of the standings.
Tigres are in fourth place with 16 points despite, a 1-0 loss against Atlante.
In other weekend results: Puebla defeated Chivas 4-1; Cruz Azul defeated Monterrey 2-1; Pumas won 4-1 against Toluca; Pachuca defeated Atlas 4-2; Estudiantes Tecos won 2-0 against Tijuana; Morelia won over Queretaro 4-2; Santos beat San Luis 1-0.
