Dr Chandra Vibhas Sahu, a 31-year-old surgeon, who was the batch topper in the masters course, strangled his MBA wife Supriya with a dupatta in their west Delhi house on Friday night, put the body in his car and travelled more than 1,000km before dumping it in the Ganga near Allahabad, police said.
Dr Sahu, a senior resident doctor at west Delhi's Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospitakl, had been showing a violent behaviour towards his wife during their 10-month-old marriage.
Supriya Tussar, 27, had done her B. Tech from Hyderabad and had a masters in business administration from Rajasthan. She had recently got a Rs 85,000 job offer from an IT major. Both hailed from Jharkhand.
Sahu, who was arrested on Monday, told the police he was physically and mentally incompatible with his wife.
Though the immediate provocation for the crime is not clear, additional CP (west) V Renganathan said Sahu could have been planning it for some time.
