England paceman and Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad was ruled out for several weeks on Monday after tearing a shoulder muscle during Sunday's tied One Day International with world champions India.
The 25-year-old will miss the forthcoming Twenty20 series with the West Indies and then a ODI series with India in India in October.
England's one day captain Alistair Cook could replace him as Twenty20 skipper. Ireland-born batsman Eoin Morgan was ruled out of action also for several weeks last week and is facing surgery on a shoulder.
Broad revealed the injury news on his Twitter page writing: "Bad news on the shoulder: torn a muscle. Gutted."
Dr Nick Peirce, England and Wales Cricket Board chief medical officer, said that he couldn't put an exact time on how long Broad - the son of former England opening batsman turned umpire Chris - would be on the sidelines.
