Harinder Bajwa alias Sunny, who was shot at while giving chase to a rogue Delhi Police head constable who had robbed an elderly businessman of jewellery and shot him dead on Saturday evening in Old Delhi, succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening.
24-year-old Sunny, a mobile repair shop owner in Daryaganj was returning home on his bike when he saw Head Constable Ajay Tomar shooting an old businessman Amarjit Singh Chaddha and fleeing. A policeman stopped Sunny's motorbike and gave chase. Tomar shot at Sunny and the bullet was lodged in his neck.
Sunny was operated upon in the early hours of Sunday for removing the bullet. “We were told that due to the injury, blood supply to his brain has been badly affected,” he added.
Meanwhile, the head constable has been dismissed from service. He was posted in the seventh battalion of the Delhi Police.
