The ruling BJP in Karnataka today won the Koppal Assembly bypoll with its candidate Karadi Sanganna declared elected by a margin of over 12,000 votes in the first popularity test faced by D V Sadananda Gowda after taking over as Chief Minister last month. Sanganna polled 60,405 votes as against 47,917 of K Basavaraj Hitnal of Congress with the electoral outcome marking BJP’s continuing winning streak in several by-elections held since it came to power more than three years ago.
