Randhir Singh Uppal, superintendent of police(D), Jalandhar was caught red-handed on Monday in his office while taking a cash bribe of Rs 50,000 from a farmer of Naya Nangal near Ropar.
Vigilance detectives laid a trap for the SP(D), who had demanded Rs 2 lakh from the man Ripudaman Ohri for filing a case relating to landed property.
As Ohri gave Uppal the money, the latter was caught by Vigilance officials in plain dress.
