Suresh Chovatiya, the younger brother of 35-year-old Hasmukh brought iron chains from Surat on Tuesday last and tied his elder brother to a pillar, declaring him insane, reports India TV reporter Raju Khokhar.
He then left for Surat leaving Hasmukh without a morsel of food. Two days later, Hasmukh's parents, who stay with Suresh in Surat, came and gave him some stale and leftover food.
As word spread in the Chhatadiya village under Dhari police station of Amreli, people gathered and informed police and media.
The police had to use cutter to break open the chains and set Hasmukh free.
