In-laws from both sides bashed up one another on Thursday night in Sector 38 west here, after the daughter-in-law Ritu alleged that she was being held hostage inside a room for the last four days as she was resisting sex detemination test of the foetus she was carrying.
As Sec 39 police intervened, the in-laws from both sides showed injury marks to allege that the other side had beaten them up. Ritu, who works as an accountant in a private firm, was married to Kanwarpreet seven months ago, but things soured after she became pregnant.
Ritu alleges that her father-in-law Mohan Singh and mother-in-law Parminder wanted a boy and were forcing her to undergo sex determination test, but she refused. She was then confined to a room for four days.
