Over 2,500 pilgrims to Gangotri, Yamunotri and Badrinath have been trapped due to continuous heavy rains and landslides in different places of Uttarakhand, officials said.
The Rishikesh-Gangotri highway and Rishikesh-Yamunotri highway have been closed to traffic due to landslides.
Meanwhile the state government has cancelled the leaves of all DMs and SPs in view of the crisis caused by rains and landslides.
In Nainital, two persons were swept away in a rainy nullah (drain) as their tractor-trolley fell into the drain. 26 other people were rescued.
PTI adds: The Uttarakhand government on Thursday night issued a red alert following heavy rains in the state that left 10 people dead and triggered a series of landslides.
