Narayanswamy Srinivasan, the BCCI president, appointed Ravi Sawani, the former head of the International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, as the commissioner to make a preliminary enquiry as per Rule 32 (ii) of the Memorandum and Rules and Regulations of the BCCI. The rule deals with the involvement of players in illegal activities or activities against the interests of the BCCI and the game. The report submitted by Sawani, who currently heads the Board's newly set-up Anti-Corruption Unit, would be forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee of the BCCI for enquiry.
