A whopping three lakh pilgrims from various parts of the country and outside thronged the cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi during the nine-day Navratra festivals, shrine board officials have said.
On an average, over 30,000 enthusiastic devotees paid obeisance at the cave shrine every day during the Navaratras, braving a tough terrain by trekking the 13-kilometre-long serpentine road.
Situated in Trikuta hills of Reasi district of the state, the cave shrine achieved a historic milestone by registering a record number of over one crore pilgrims who visited there in 2011.
