: In a shocking case of honour killing, Mumbai police on Friday night arrested a man, Agyaram Jaiswal, from Malad for killing his 13-year-old daughter suspecting her of having illicit relationship with a boy.
The victim, Preeti, was a class VII student. On Thursday, the neighbours saw a boy from the locality with her in her house; and informed her elder sisters, who thrashed her while the boy escaped.
Later, Agyaram accused Preeti of maligning his reputation, and used the cable of a sewing machine to strangle her to death. He took the body to Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali, saying Preeti had committed suicide. However, a post-mortem examination revealed the cause of the death, forcing Agyaram and his daughters to confess.
