A large number of shops at the Hatibagan market in north Kolkata, one of the oldest in the metropolis, were reduced to ashes in a devastating blaze that broke out in the early hours today, official sources said.
The fire broke out at around 2:30 am with the flames affecting shops selling meat, fish, fruits and ghee in the sprawling market, the fire brigade officials said.
