Skipper Michael Clarke and David Warner stroked centuries and shared a 184-run third-wicket stand to guide Australia into a commanding position in the tri-series, leaving Sri Lanka needing to score 272 on Tuesday to keep the finals alive.
The Australians reached 271-6 from 50 overs, helped by five dropped catches and some sloppy Sri Lankan fielding.
Warner’s 100 from 140 balls was his second hundred in three days after failing to reach triple figures in his first 18 ODIs. He scored 163 from 157 balls on Sunday before he was out on the last ball of Australia’s innings in the 15-run win in the first final at Brisbane.
