Gurgaon police could have prevented last Sunday night's gangrape of a pub employee had they acted upon the pleas of the victim's brother and the driver of the cab from which the woman was abducted.
Mehndi Hassan, the cab driver, told Times of India that he and the victim's brother literally pleaded with the policemen to save the victim. The policemen were in the PCR across the road near Sikanderpur when the Maruti Alto in which the woman was abducted zipped past the policemen, sitting half-dozed.
