Australia's batting woes deepened ahead of the Test series against India with opener Shaun Marsh being ruled out of the first match starting here from December 26 as he is yet to fully recover from his lower back injury.
Marsh has been virtually ruled out of the first Test and Shane Watson has been brought to Melbourne early to assess his fitness.
