Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and midfielder Tim Cahill are late injury withdrawals from the Australia team to play Malaysia in a friendly on Friday in Canberra and Oman in a 2014 World Cup qualifier on Oct. 11 in Sydney.
Australia coach Holger Osieck says that Schwarzer injured his back while playing for Fulham two weeks ago and reinjured it during the warmup for his team’s 6-0 win Sunday over Queens Park Rangers.
Cahill injured his leg playing for Everton against Manchester City on Sept. 24 and exacerbated it during his team’s 2-0 loss Saturday to Liverpool.
