The Congress would project Rahul Gandhi as the future leader of the party, senior leader and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said today.
“We are always in favour of new leadership. Rahul Gandhi is our future leader,” Mukherjee said when asked whether Congress would follow BJP in their attempt to focus on new faces for future leaders.
“What BJP is doing is their internal matter,” he said at his ancestral home here in Birbhum district where he is the priest in the family Durga puja.
Mukherjee also questioned the BJP’s performance in recent assembly election in various states.
“What is their performance? In the last elections they had fought in more than 725 seats. How many have they won? Let us see their performance in the coming elections,” he said.
