National Commission for Minorities Chairman Wajahat Habibullah today hoped that the victims of the 2002 Gujarat riots will get justice in courts even as he felt the role of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his senior officials should be probed.
The apex court, in its judgement yesterday, refused to pass any judgement on Zakia Jafri's plea seeking to make Modi an accused in the riots cases, and referring the case back to the lower court.
Asked if the role of Modi and senior officials of his government should be probed in the cases, he said, "Of course, all this has to be probed. This matter is under consideration of the court and in such a case any decision is to be taken by the court."
