Team Anna Unwilling To Accept 6 Conditions, Hazare May Be Arrested

With the proposed indefinite fast by India Against Corruption led by Anna Hazare from August 16 hitting a roadblock, official sources have begun throwing hints about the imminent arrest of Anna Hazare and his supporters if they try to sit on fast at J P Park in Delhi.

Out of the 22 conditions put forward by Delhi Police, Team Hazare has accepted 16 of them, mostly relating to remaining non-violent and abstaining from inflammatory speeches meant to create disorder.

The six conditions unacceptable to Team Hazare are: (a) limiting the fast to three days (b) limiting the gathering to 5,000 (c) government doctors to do medical checkups of fasting supporters for 3 days (d) Parking for only 50 four-wheelers and 50 two-wheelers (e) no shamiana (tent) to be erected at the venue (f) no podium to be erected.

Team Hazare says, all these six conditions are ridiculous. A person sitting on indefinite fast cannot commit and say he or she would sit for three days only. The limit on number of vehicles is intentially meant to curtail the gathering. Ban on tent or podium was ludicrous, as it would be impossible to manage a gathering of even, say 5000, without a podium, says Team Hazare.
