New Delhi, Aug 26: Acclaimed actor Om Puri became the latest celebrity to lend a glamour quotient to Anna Hazare’s campaign for a strong Lokpal as he made an appearance at the Ramlila Maidan today.
Puri said through his incessant efforts, the 74-year-old Hazare has become a symbolic hero against injustice anywhere in the world.
“I have never seen such a crowd in my lifetime. Such crowds were seen only during Mahatma Gandhi’s time. Anna is not just a hero for India but a hero against injustice anywhere,” Puri said, referring to the support for the campaign.
The 60-year-actor, know for his versatile roles from films like “Ardh Satya” to “Hera Pheri”, said the struggle does not end with the Lokpal Bill, as the people of the country also have electoral reforms to fight for.
“They ask for educational qualification even for a peon but while giving tickets they don’t ask for educational qualification. People who don’t score more than 60 per cent marks should not get tickets. Their conduct in Parliament is not good,” said the actor.
