Mumbai, Aug 30: Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, who essays the role of yesteryear South Indian sex symbol Silk Smitha in ‘The Dirty Picture’, says the movie is not vulgar and sleazy.
Directed by Milan Luthria, ‘The Dirty Picture’ is a biopic based on the southern seductress Vijaylakshmi, better known as Silk Smitha.
“The movie is not vulgar and sleazy. Though some might fill little hesitant or difficult to digest the movie but I am sure as a woman one might agree,” Vidya told reporters here after the first teaser of the film was launched here.
The movie shows the journey of the southern siren to stardom followed by her sudden demise at a young age. “I think I have never enjoyed playing a woman in films...except this. In this film there are several shades of a woman,” she said.
